Harris County Democrats Applaud Leadership of
Judge Lina Hidalgo
Harris County Democratic Party Chair Lillie Schechter issued the following statement:
The Harris County Democratic Party applauds and stands with Judge Hidalgo on her leadership during this crisis. Harris County has been successful in slowing the spread of Covid-19 as a result of Judge Hidalgo’s reliance on science and data and not special interest to inform her decisions to keep our communities safe.
Judge Hidalgo has consistently made thoughtful and fact-based decisions for the sake of public safety. This pandemic and the social distancing protocols put in place have been trying for everyone. Still, we believe that by coming together as a community and following the guidance of leaders like Judge Hidalgo, we will get through this and come out of this stronger.
Republican elected officials have continued to fail us during this pandemic, and just today, Governor Greg Abbott’s revised order illustrates why we need to elect Democrats now more than ever that will stand up for us, our health, and our safety. Democrats who will be guided by science and data to safeguard our communities, not big business or donors.
