If you reside in State Representative District 145, there is a special election to fill a vacancy for State Representative District 145Early voting for the special election begins on Monday, January 14, 2019 until Friday, January 25, 2019 (There is no early voting on MLK Jr. Day). VOTING BY MAIL


Requirements

You may vote early by mail if you are registered to vote in Harris County and meet one of the following requirements:


  • 65 years of age or older on Election Day
  • Disabled
  • Out of Harris County during the early voting period and on Election Day
  • Confined in jail, but eligible to vote


Annual Application for Ballot by Mail (ABBM)

Eligible voters who are 65 years of age or older or are disabled qualify to apply for the Annual Application for Ballot By Mail. By choosing the "annual" option on the application, this guarantees applicants will receive a mail ballot for all elections held during a calendar year. Annual applications may be submitted beginning the first day of a calendar year (January 1) and no later than the 11th day before Election Day. Apply as soon as possible!


Regular Application

Eligible voters who are either out of Harris County during the early voting period and Election Day or are confined in jail (but eligible to vote) may submit an application for a single election beginning the first day of the calendar year (January 1) and no later than the 11th day before Election Day. Apply as soon as possible!

Please note, the law has changed. To be effective, an application for ballot by mail submitted by FAX or EMAIL must also be submitted by mail and be received by the early voting clerk not later than the fourth business day after the transmission by fax or email is received. (TEC 84.007).



ID REQUIREMENTS FOR TEXAS VOTERS

If you have one of the following acceptable photo IDS, you must bring it with you when you vote:

  • Texas driver license issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)

  • Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPS

  • Texas personal identification card issued by DPS

  • Texas concealed handgun license issued by DPS

  • United States military identification card containing the person’s photograph

  • United States citizenship certificate containing the person’s photograph

  • United States passport
